    Description

I HAVE TO SELL MY 45+ YEARS COLLECTION OF AFRICAN MASKS!
This is a mystery mask. I really only collect African masks but I thought this might be Bozo, best known for their carved fish. However, with the red spot on its forehead I wonder if it is actually Indian or thereabouts. It is also reminiscent of those from Central America. With a
malevolent expression and painted with gaudy enamel paint, it also has "Hitler hair". The inside is hollowed out by adze as African examples are and it may be Bozo after all. There is no evidence of repainting except, perhaps, the ghost of a forehead dot over the right eye. If Indian, I doubt the maker would have originally misplaced it. The paint is a bit scuffed up. With its evil grin it reminds me of something from a horror movie. I wouldn't hazard a guess as to its age, but there are remnants of a wax seal on the inside which may have secured an old collection tag. 14" tall. Selling cheap; it doesn't fit with the rest of my collection. Very heavy; it will cost a bit to ship (If I overestimated I will refund the difference.) U.S. bidders please. [Boston Primitive]
