An exceptional Rare Pre-1940’s African Tribal Kuba Kete Mask. An initiation mask used by dancer. Stylized large conical protruding eyes. Sculpted triangular upturned nose, sly smile. Characterized by painted geometric decoration, with burlap, cowrie shells monkey fur. Balls of raffia burlap and shells on back head. Old beads found on head. Great dark patina of wood with brass accents and singular horn covered with shells on top. Condition is "Used". There are some scrapes, scuff marks, some cracks but good condition considering age.
