RAF/RCAF pre-ww2 Full Dress tunic
For your consideration is a lovely 1920’s-1930’s RAF/RCAF (Royal Air Force / Royal Canadian Air Force) full dress tunic with Pilot wings.
Tunic is sized to be approximately size medium, but I can provide measurements if requested.
Outside conditions is quite good considering its age, the odd moth hole and nips.
Major damage has been photographed.
The tunic also sports a fantastic pilots wings, see picture.
The inside condition is quite bad and the whole silk lining is falling apart and beyond any point of reasonable salvaging.
This tunic could be used for re-enacting/living history but I would recommend just using this for display.
And as the photos show it displays quite nicely.
The tunic is currently ranked to Flight Lieutenant. But evidence on the tunic shows that at some point it was ranked to someone higher (Squadron leader or wing commander).
A shadow of an extra rank stripe on the sleeves is present and reduction of the gold collar corn was done at some point.
These uniforms were private purchase items, so it makes sense that perhaps the officer upon retiring that the uniform was sold to a junior officer to use.
But this is a speculation on my part.
No names, tags, or markings are present so it is a mystery as to who wore this uniform over its life time, but I imagine a ww1 RFC pilot who continued on serving after the war paraded with this tunic based upon the rank.
The sword, sword belt hangers, belt, gloves, busby are not included and are to show how the uniform would be fully displayed.
I am only parting with the Tunic.
The tunic is sold as is.

I have been honoured to be the custodian of this tunic for a few years, but as I have expenses now that I am married I have to let a few things go, and this includes this extra tunic.
