This ceremonial, solid wood Basuku Helmet Mask is authentic African art from Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo), made available for sale by a private collector.  This mask was not made for the tourist trade, and is offered for the consideration of the serious collector of rare masks. Approximate measurements: 17" tall, 9.5" wide, 10.5" deep. Please examine photos carefully to evaluate condition. Please note: This ceremonial mask has signs of early repair to vertical wood splits using brads along top and sides of head. Tips of carved horns and goat's tail are chipped and broken off from apparent use. Signs of wear inside and outside of helmet include cracks, scratches, dings, surface rubbing, and raffia holes, and are commensurate with item's advanced age and authenticity. Previous collector's "167" ID number is inked on interior of helmet.
