    Vehicle Details
For sale is a beautifully reworked 1979 Chevrolet Malibu. Straight steel, a modified interior (but retaining its comfort), and a fire breathing monster under the hood, it is ready for any street race you can throw at it. This car can throw you back in two ways…one in time to 1979, and two, into your seat! A self-professed Pro Street Show Car.
    Exterior
Save for the large scooped hood, and Centerline wheels with big Mickey Thompson ET 28 x 12.5-15-inch streets, it appears as a normal Chevy Malibu. Although the bottle of NOS between the seats may give a little away! Tinted windows, beautiful stock chrome and standard badging all dipped in deep end of the pool red paint with some tan pin striping. Steel is laser straight, and gaps are nearly showroom, a buttoned up Malibu if there ever was one. Noted doors have been shaved and are operated via a remote.
    Interior
A swing of the doors and we see beautifully preserved broadcloth door panels with a mid section vinyl molded pull and armrest. Some modifications for the street racer theme have been made, mainly the addition of Simpson 4-point racing seatbelts, built conveniently right into the original seats which are broadcloth high back buckets. The noted bottle of NOS is in the center of these seats(it’s a fire extinguisher). All seemingly untouched since 1979 rear bench stretches across the back of the car. Up front the standard simple gauge cluster is in front of the original steering wheel. Just below this cluster are dual round white faced gauges which have been built onto the dash along with a Volt meter below these gauges. Hanging from the center is an AutoMeter Sport Comp tachometer complete with shift light. In the center is the temp controls and a push button AM/FM radio. Sitting proudly on the hump, is a competition shifter, which is surrounded by nice black carpet, diamond plate rubber mats, and above is a black tight headliner.
    Drivetrain
Flipping open the hood and we have the money shot! What started as a GM Mark-1 454ci has been balanced, bored and stroked to 498ci. It has a compression ratio of 13:5-1, includes an Eagle forged crank, Eagle H beam 6.385 rods JE forged pistons, Brodix heads and valve covers, a comp cam Magnum 308AR delivering .682 lift and .308 duration. There are solid roller lifters and comp push rods. They are protected by Crane rocker girdles and rockers. Manley provides the stainless steel valves. MSD the pro distributor. On top is a Race Demon 1080 CFM carburetor. On back a Muncie M21 4 speed transmission(rebuilt 2021) with a Pioneer flywheel and a Bud's clutch. The rear differential is courtesy Moser, and it is a .411 gear ratio.New alternator (2021)
    Undercarriage
The hits just keep on coming underneath in this pristine rust free environment all tricked out with South side traction bars, QA1 90-10 drag shocks in front, Hotchkis rear coils with air shock bags on back, and looking all good underneath, not to be outdone by the top side.
    Drive-Ability
This car was built with the intention of going in a straight line, and it does an excellent job of this. It started right up, and definitely goes like the wind. Not a bad driver considering it has the power to possibly lift the front end, and all interior functions work as they should. Also, a note this car sounds awesome if you prefer LOUD!
A beautiful build everywhere you look. Exterior is wonderfully straight and racy, interior is clean, and all buttoned up with some racing additions, and the engine is certainly one more of things on this car that have dipped into red paint. Plenty of engine performance mods, and those big Mickey Thompson street racers, and if you can catch a glimpse as it goes by, you'll see it is simply put…FAB! Custom FAB if you will!
