    Description

    This auction is for the eighth London Bridge Commemorative Dollar issued in October, 1978, by the London Bridge Rotary Club in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, also known as a Havasu Dollar.  It is 40 mm in diameter and was struck in copper.
    Obv:  Displayed in 6 areas representing the 6 spokes within the wheel of the Rotary emblem with the London Bridge in the center of the hub are 6 popular activities available in the Lake Havasu City area:  tennis, horseback riding, boating, water skiing, golf, and fishing  "1831 London Bridge 1971/Lake Havasu City, Arizona"  (The date 1831 is the year that the London Bridge was dedicated and opened in London, and 1971 is the year it was dedicated and reopened in Arizona.)
    Rev:  The reverse carries the Rotary International emblem and the legend "London Bridge Rotary Club/This coin/is good for/one dollar/in Trade at/cooperating/ businesses in /Lake Havasu/City through/October/1979/Havasu Dollar"
